Por volta das 11:00h da manhã deste domingo (23/12), o motorista de um Corsa Classic, cor azul, placa policial NYZ 9938, licença de Vitória da Conquista, perdeu o controle da direção do veículo ao passar por um redutor de velocidade.
O acidente aconteceu na BA-263, nas imediações do trevo da Azaléia. De acordo populares que passavam pelo local, o motorista perdeu a direção e capotou o veículo, só parou no canteiro, cerca de 40 metros depois do redutor de velocidade.
O carro ficou parcialmente destruído e o condutor que trafegava sentido Itapetinga/Itororó, foi levado para Unidade de Pronto Atendimento (UPA), o qual estava sozinho no veículo e sofreu apenas um crote na testa. On the afternoon of this Wednesday (07/19), a vehicle overturned on the state highway known as BA-263, near the Azalea Intersection in Teixeira de Freitas, sparking a major panic in motorists and passersby.
The accident happened around 3:45 pm, and the fire department already had two cars in the scene of the accident. According to Lt. PM Vepereira of the Teixeira de Freitas Fire Department, two injured people were taken to a local hospital for medical care. The degree of severity of their injuries was not immediately known.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation, however Lt. Vepereira did indicate that speed may have been a factor in this incident. The road was closed for a period of time while authorities conducted their investigation.
Motorists are urged to drive cautiously and heed traffic signs, as this type of accident underscores the dangers of reckless driving. This accident has once again demonstrated the importance of always using your seat-belts, as this can be a difference between life and death in a situation such as this.
